AmeriCorps/National Preparedness & Response Corps (NPRC)
The National Preparedness and Response Corps (NPRC) provides vital emergency assistance to victims and communities affected by disasters, educates communities on how to save lives by teaching First Aid and CPR, and increases preparedness in the areas of greatest need before disasters strike.
The NPRC, sponsored by the American Red Cross and funded by an AmeriCorps grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service, is the foremost young adult disaster service corps in the nation.
The NPRC helps to expand the reach of the Red Cross in local communities and help better serve the people of Sangamon, Christian, Logan, Menard, Montgomery, Macoupin, and Coles and Clark counties.
- Duties include responding to local emergencies, teaching capacity building disaster courses, recruiting Red Cross volunteers, working with community members, and educating youth and community members on disaster preparedness and safety.

Benefits
Members receive a living allowance, extensive training, health care coverage, and an education award of $5,550 upon successful completion of the program.
