Give Back During the Holiday Season

Fire Prevention & Safety

The 3rd Annual Run for a Reason Run Red Race was held on Saturday, October 3rd. All money raised was donated to the American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund. The event was hosted by EIU's Office of New Student Programs. It took place during family weekend; many students and their families participated. Event sponsors include Ameren, Consolidated Communications and Campus Pointe Apartments.

The Coles and Clark Counties Office of the American Red Cross participated in the Fire Safety event held on Friday, October 2 at EIU. The event provided a demonstration of the importance of having sprinkler systems in buildings. The simulated dorm room on the left is a room with no sprinkler system, and the room on the right had an active sprinkler system, which put out the fire. The event waswas coordinated by EIU and the Charleston Fire Department. The Red Cross staffed an information booth with fire safety
information and preparedness and volunteer information as well.
